Students begin the year with a program that everyone is familiar with, Microsoft Word. In Microsoft Word, students learn how to create documents and how to change certain aspects of those documents. The students are also taught how to create certain basic business documents, such as memorandums and business letters. The skills that the students learn will be a great portion of their lives if they chose to continue into a business career.
Students also learn how to use Microsoft Excel. Spreadsheets are a growing part of many businesses. Many records and databases are kept with this program, and that is what is taught to the students. Also, students learn how to use Excel to create a table or graph.
Although it is not quite as important for business careers, Microsoft Publisher is also touched upon in this class. The program itself is mostly self-explanatory, but there are some small idiosyncrasies that many people would not know about if someone were not to point them out.
Lastly, students cover Microsoft Power Point. Power Point is used to create slide shows, which can be very important if called upon to give a presentation. Many businesses use Power Point all the time, and there are many things that can be done with Power Point. This program is discussed and used in this class, just as the others, and students will come to master presentation creation.
Students, don't forget to sign up for this class early. It is a required course and rightfully so, because everyone should learn how to use a computer.
