Halloween Bash

This year our club decided to try something new. There has not been a Halloween dance at BFHS for many years, and our membership voted to reinstate this dance into our yearly calendar. It took a considerable amount of work, but the dance was a huge success, although it had a rocky start.

The dance itself would hinder our ability to work on the semiformal in October, because our club would have to be working on this dance in October. We were also unsure of the amount of people that would want to come to the dance. If we did not get enough people to come, we would not be able to pay for the DJ, and would lose money. Also, we were worried about the other costs, such as food and decorations.

In the end everything worked out. There were plenty of people that bought tickets and that paid for our DJ. We still had just about as much work done for our semiformal as we would have gotten done had there not been a Halloween dance. We paid absolutely nothing for food or decorations. All of the decorations were either donated to us or created using school bought supplies. All of the food was donated by members of FBLA. The dance somehow made a small profit, and members are hoping to do even better next year.

Not only did we make a profit, but everyone that was there had fun. It took a while to get people on the dance floor, but once they were there, we couldn't get them to leave. The DJ was great and knew exactly what to play to get dancers on the floor. I personally want to thank the brave girl that went out and danced alone to get other people to dance with her. There was food to spare and plenty to do. We broke piñatas and there were two fortune tellers. Everyone had fun and our membership cannot wait to do this again next year. Our only hope is that more people will come because they will know how much fun it is.
