Business Competitions

Every year, our chapter participates in a business competition at Butler County Comunity College. With the exception of last year, we have always gone to these competitions, and we have always done well. Last year, however, there was a scheduling conflict and our chapter was unable to attend.

Two years ago we did excellent. Five of our members qualified and participated in the state competitions in Hershey, PA. None of those members qualified for the National Competitions, but all of them tried very hard and each did an amazing job. Most were in the top twenty in their particular category.

The competitions are based on categories. Some categories include Accounting, Word Processing, Desktop Publishing, and Programming. Most categories have subdivisions as well, such as Accounting 1 and Accounting 2. People competing must complete a written exam on their topic, as well as some simulation of their abilities in that area.

The competition date for this year has not been set yet. It will be held some time within January of February of 2008, and it will be held at BCCC. As soon as the date is set, it will be placed on our Calendar.
