Sarah Simmons

Sophomore Sarah Simmons is doing a great job this year as our sole Parliamentarian. This is in fact her second year as a member of our chapter, and she has done plenty of work in the time she’s been with us. If it were not for a very persuasive Middle School teacher, though, Sarah may not have become a member. Nothing is better to hear than the fact that there are teachers supporting our club, even in the Middle School. We are also very glad to have Sarah as our Parliamentarian this year.

Sarah has not been in high school that long, but she has been here long enough to take Keyboarding and Exploratory Business. She is also currently taking Accounting I. Sarah is trying to learn everything she can about the business world, and she knew that our club could help. She decided, after a successful first year in our club, that she wanted to take on more responsibilities. She now has one of the most important positions in our club. It is Sarah’s job to make sure that our membership is following correct Parliamentary Procedures. Because many members do not know what these procedures are, Sarah must teach them to the chapter. Her job is important because our meetings are meant to be run just like a council meeting would be run. Knowing proper procedure can be helpful for members that go on to be on the city council, school board, or any other jobs of that sort.

Sarah is a very active member of our high school. She is not only a member of FBLA, but also a member of the track team, Usher’s Club, Key Club, and the tennis team. It is obvious that she has learned to lead by example, and she is out to set the best example possible.

Sarah very much enjoys being a part of our club. In fact, her favorite event from last year was going to the semiformal dance. She has learned a lot, though, while still having fun. It has only been a year, but Sarah has learned that sometimes “you have to work as a group to get things done.” She says that she “want[s] to stay in FBLA and join [PBL] in college and [she] think[s] it will take [her] far in the business world.”
