Rachael Colao

Current senior and Secretary, Rachael Colao has been working hard to advance our chapter. Though this is only her third year in FBLA, Rachael has done a lot to help us out. She joined because she saw a lot of the members setting up the decorations for the semiformal in her freshman year, and thought that it would be a great idea to join. The next year she had her application in early and was at every meeting. In her junior year she designed a theme for the semi, and came in a close second. She presented that theme again in her senior year, and it won. Rachael’s theme, A Night of Music, was chosen to be the theme for our winter semiformal this year.

Rachael is getting ready to go into a good business career. She has taken plenty of business classes, including Computer Literacy, Keyboarding, Word Processing I and II, and Exploratory Business. All of this, especially her Word Processing classes, has helped her get ready for this year. She is currently one of our two secretaries, and she has been working hand in hand with Sayde Rhone to get our agendas prepared, and do almost all the other paperwork we have. The only paperwork these two do not do is our newsletter, which is prepared by Jordan Blythe.

Not a single tracked person, Rachael is a member of a few different clubs. She is an active member of Ski Club, and one of the avid supporters of the newly forming Law Club. Rachael is a fun and active person, and she is a part of many different sports, including varsity track.

Even though Rachael’s theme did not get used last year, she really did enjoy being a part of the semiformal set up. She will surely be ecstatic about this year, considering her theme is being used and she gets the final say in all of the decorations. FBLA, though, means much more to Rachael than just a chance to work on the semiformal decorations committee. She has learned through our help that “you have to keep your cool under pressure.” She has also learned how to be not only a follower, but a leader. She knows that “FBLA will prove to future employers that [she is] reliable,” and she knows that this club will help her to get a great job. Our chapter will miss Rachael, and we can only hope for future officers as devoted and fun loving as she is.
