Joshua Laughlin

This year's President, Joshua Laughlin, has been a great member of the Beaver Falls Chapter of FBLA for four years now. He started in his Freshman year, being, as he says, "coerced to join by my sisters." His oldest sister, Elizabeth Laughlin, was once an officer of this chapter, and his step-sister Brittany Jackson was an officer during his ninth grade year at Beaver Falls High School. The two of them told him how great FBLA really was, and he thought that it would be a great opportunity, so he filled out his application and was accepted.

Since joining, Joshua has been compelled to take quite a few business courses. He has taken Computer Literacy, Keyboarding, Accounting 1 and 2, Programming 1 and 2, Multimedia, and Web Page Design. Without his help, this site may not have been a reality. Besides work on the site, Joshua has to always tried to support the FBLA. He is constantly putting in opinions and ideas during meetings, and even though the club has made decisions he might not have made on his own, he knows that those were the correct choices in the end.

Joshua is a good role model for younger students. He is a member of G.A.T.E. (Gifted and Talented Education), a member of NHS, as well as the 2007-2008 Student Council President. His grades are exemplary, and many students come to him for help in class. He's always lived by the saying, "Life isn't easy, but if it was, it wouldn't be so much fun." Josh urges students to make the best of every situation, and reminds people that lies will eventually lead you to no where, which is probably why his favorite saying is, "Always face the facts." Anyone can see that this student has been working hard, and our chapter is lucky to have him working with us.

Leadership is the main reason Joshua has stayed in FBLA as long as he has. He was quoted in saying, "I have learned a lot about leadership in FBLA, and that's an opportunity that I wouldn't have missed for the world." Joshua feels that FBLA will help him "get a good job in a great business, and help me 'Unlock my Potential.'" Joshua apparently remember's FBLA's catch-phrase from the 2005-2006 year, which was "Unlock Your Potential." It is apparent that he has learned quite a bit and is willing now to help teach. We will be sad when he leaves. Thank you Joshua for all of your hard work.
